Chelsea eyeing new centre-back after major injury blow
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that the club are looking for another centre-back following a serious injury for Levi Colwill.
Colwill picked up an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury in training this week and it has been confirmed that he has undergone surgery.
The England international is set to be sidelined for the majority of the campaign, and the Blues will need to fill the void with a signing.
Summer signing Jorrel Hato has played as a left centre-back during his time at Ajax, but the Dutchman seems most comfortable as a left-back.
Maresca has now acknowledged that a new centre-back is a priority with the club set to be without Colwill for most of the upcoming season.
He said: "It's a priority [strengthening in defence] because Levi is a fantastic player. What we achieved last season is because of him. He played all the games with me, I love him, we're going to miss him."
