Man Utd ready to sign German star, could replace Martinez

Manchester United are ready to purchase Borussia Dortmund star Nico Schlotterbeck during the upcoming transfer window, as per Sky Sport in Germany.

The German centre-back will enter the last year of his Dortmund contract this summer and he is widely expected to be sold by the Bundesliga outfit.

This could pave the way for a bidding war for his services and reports claim that he could be sold for a fee between 30 and 35 million euros.

United have established contact with the player's representatives and they are also expected to make a formal proposal to Dortmund very soon.

However, they won't be alone in the race for the player. Real Madrid are among concrete admirers of the once Freiburg central defender.

Schlotterbeck has also talked up his admiration for Madrid in the past and they could emerge as frontrunners to land his services ahead of United.

United may need to be proactive to convince the 26-year-old. They could assure him a starting berth at left centre-back ahead of Lisandro Martinez.
