Man Utd tipped to sign Benfica star for £26m

Manchester United could land the signature of Benfica midfielder Richard Rios for just £26 million in the next transfer window, according to A Bola in Portugal.

The Mancunian giants are expected to reinforce their midfield department this summer with the prospect of multiple departures. Casemiro will leave when his contract expires on June 30. There is also speculation that Manuel Ugarte could be pushed through the exit door after failing to meet expectations.

A Bola now claim that Benfica may need to balance their books this summer as they prepare for another season without Champions League football. They are presently third in the Primeira Liga table, two points behind Sporting CP, who have a superior goal difference with just one more game left.

Benfica need to win and hope Sporting CP lose theirs. Otherwise, they will be playing in the Europa League, which would mean a significant financial loss.

United have been linked with Rios on many occasions and it is claimed that they could get the opportunity to land him for just £26m during the summer.
