Man Utd most interested in signing 25yo La Liga star

Manchester United are most interested in landing Elche centre-back David Affengruber this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Red Devils are in the transfer market for a new centre-back after confirming that Matthijs de Ligt has undergone back surgery.

The Dutchman has been ruled out for the opening months of next season and the club need a backup for him with European football coming up.

Instead of spending big, United may pursue a cost-effective solution and Affengruber has emerged as a realistic target for the Red Devils.

The Austrian is expected to leave Elche at the end of the campaign and they are poised to hold out for at least 30 million euros for his services.

Juventus are reluctant to pay more than 20 million euros which means United have a clear edge in the pursuit of the 25-year-old Austrian.

The Red Devils have already made contact with his representatives and could seek to land his signature before the summer World Cup.
