Man Utd bidding hard to sign Portuguese star

Manchester United are bidding hard to land West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandez amid interest from Real Madrid, according to AS.

The Red Devils have already agreed to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson and they are now determined to bring Fernandez to Manchester soon.

Talks are underway with the Hammers for the player and AS claim that the club have the upper hand over Madrid in the pursuit of the 21-year-old.

Madrid manager Jose Mourinho considers Fernandes as the icing on the cake but United are bidding hard and will pose a hurdle in the race.

Fernandez has already given his priority to the Red Devils, while his agent Jorge Mendes is likewise working to finalise a potential switch.

Mendes has represented Mourinho for the last two decades, but he has a very good relationship with Man Utd as well over several years.

He previously brought in Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte to the club and has his sights on securing Fernandes' move to Old Trafford this summer.
