Fulham's attempt to sign Andrei Ratiu has fallen through after Rayo Vallecano rejected the Premier League club's approach for the Romania international.

According to BBC Sport, the Spanish side have pulled the plug on a proposed move to England, with Fulham's transfer bid rebuffed on deadline day. Ratiu, 28, is understood to have made clear his desire to secure a transfer elsewhere, but Rayo have decided that the right-back must remain with the La Liga club.

The decision leaves Fulham without a deal for the former Villarreal defender, who had emerged as a target as the London club looked to strengthen their options. Rayo's stance has effectively ended the prospect of a late switch, with the player now set to stay in Spain.

For Fulham, the collapse of the move represents a setback in the final stages of the window. The club had pushed to bring Ratiu to England, but the Spanish club's refusal to sanction an exit has left the proposed transfer off the table.

Ratiu's own position adds another layer to the situation, with the defender reportedly keen on a move. However, Rayo have taken a firm approach and made it clear they are not prepared to lose him at this stage.

Unless there is a dramatic change in stance, Ratiu will continue with Rayo Vallecano rather than complete a move to the Premier League. Fulham must now move on from the deal, with their bid having failed to persuade the La Liga outfit to sell.
