Chelsea to pursue new midfielder in January

Chelsea are expected to enter the transfer market for a new midfielder when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Blues were determined to land Monaco star Lamine Camara on deadline day after selling Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City.
The Senegal international was permitted to undergo his medical with Chelsea, but Monaco pulled the plug on the deal at the last hurdle.
Chelsea were left deeply disappointed by the decision, and it seems unlikely that they will do business with Monaco in the near future.
Still, the Blues are poised to pursue a new midfielder this winter, and the focus could be placed on landing a more defensive-minded option.
Roma's Manu Kone was a late target before the deadline, but the Serie A side made it clear that he was going nowhere with no time to replace him.
However, they could reconsider their transfer stance at the turn of the year, and there is a possibility that Chelsea could discuss terms early.
