Arsenal to move for Alonso?

According to Xabi Alonso's agent; his client could soon be playing for Arsenal. It is understood that the Gunners may have made an inquiry for the Spanish international.

The player was expected to join Juventus from Liverpool this summer, after Claudio Ranieri made his interest in the player public knowledge.

However, it now seems that Alonso could be staying in the Premiership as the Gunners look for a replacement for Gilberto Silva who joined Panathinaikos last night.

"The player knows about this subject and now the decision lies with Liverpool," Ibanez told Spanish newspaper Publico.
