Spurs move for Fernando Meira

Tottenham have made a move for Fernando Meira. The defender looks set to be leaving VfB Stuttgart, and Horst Heldt, the Stuttgart sports director has confirmed that a deal could happen shortly.

"Up until now, only Tottenham have contacted us," he told Stuttgarter Zeitung.

"We have only learned from the media about the alleged interest from Galatasaray and Panathinaikos.

"But, first, the player must find the best solution for him anyway.

"Then we will negotiate with the club of his choice."
