Rosenborg bid for Varela?

Real Mallorca defender Fernando Varela has emerged as a shock target for Norwegian giants Rosenborg. It is understood that the club will offer around 2.5 million EUR to sign the defender.

Varela is capable of playing at full back or in midfield, and has spent the whole of his career playing in La Liga, previously for Real Betis, now Real Mallorca.

The 29 year old is renowned for his tough tackling and speedy runs down the flank.

Rosenborg are believed t be ready to lodge an official bid for the player in the coming months.

Lifelong Rosenborg fan, Kurt Henting, said of the news: "I'm delighted to see a player of Varela's calibre coming to a club as small as ours. It's a lot of money to pay for one player, but if we are to ever reach Champions Glory, we need players like that!"
