Lovenkrands to Sunderland?

Peter Lovenkrands has rubbed further salt into Newcastle United's wounds as he admitted that he would be interested in signing for bitter rivals Sunderland once his contract expires next week.

It is understood that Sunderland have offered a contract to the Denmark striker, and the player is expected at the Stadium of Light for talks over the coming week.

"Sunderland is an interesting club," Lovenkrands revealed. "The city is near Newcastle, where we've settled, and it would be attractive to stay in northern England."
