Modeste M'Bami to Portsmouth

French midfielder Modeste M'Bami could be a shock target for Portsmouth, according to reports. It is understood that the centre midfielder is on trial at the Southern side and is hopeful of securing a permanent deal.

M'Bami is also wanted by Everton and Sunderland, but is more interested in joining Portsmouth where he would have a better chance of first-team football.

M'Bami had been at the end of his deal at Marseille and is available on a free transfer, an excellent deal for cash-strapped Pompey.
