Manchester United are reportedly weighing up an offer for the services of one of Ligue 1's best.

The Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is understood to be keen on signing up a new striker in the upcoming transfer window, having seen his fellow countryman Robin van Persie fail to find his purple patch in recent games.

According to The Express, the Mancunian giants could neglect the option of signing Falcao at the end of the season due to his ongoing injury issues.

The report adds that the club could make a bid of around £50m for Cavani in the January transfer window at the earliest.
