Blackburn punish Derby
Blackburn came from behind to beat Derby this afternoon; but Derby will feel a little hard done by as they missed an early penalty. However, Roque Santa Cruz and David Bentley made the Rams pay with two goals to wrap up the win.
Derby took the lead in the 27th minute courtesy of Matt Oakley, who fired into the roof of the net after racing onto a neat lay-off from Giles Barnes.
But Brad Friedel then saved a penalty from Steve Howard, which was awarded for a foul by Ryan Nelsen on Kenny Miller, and that proved the spark for a Rovers revival.
A minute later, the outstanding Roque Santa Cruz pounced to score his 14th goal of the season, slotting home from close range after Lewis Price could only parry Benni McCarthy's initial shot.
And three minutes later, David Bentley then fired Rovers in front, the England midfielder dispatching a low 25-yarder into the bottom corner.
After that, Rovers had countless chances to wrap the game up but Price denied both McCarthy and Santa Cruz, and another Bentley effort cannoned back off the base of the post.
