Dani Alves preparing for Barca
Sevilla hotshot Daniel Alves seems set to move to the Catalan giants FC Barcelona as soon as the season curtains down in Spain this weekend. The Brazilian international right back appears to have everything settled with the Blaugrana and is only waiting for the Seville club to accept Barca’s offer.
Dani Alves has always been touted to depart from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan at the end of the 2007-2008 season and it is most likely that he would depart to Barcelona. A host of other cubs, including Chelsea and Real Madrid, have been lining up offers for the player rated as one of the best right backs in the world but Alves seems to have his heart set on the Blaugrana.
Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido rejected a huge offer from Chelsea last summer and this sparked some friction between the player and the president at the start of this season. But things appeared to have been cooled down as Alves recovered his old touch and rallied to lead Sevilla into a UEFA Cup spot after a poor start to the season in La Liga.
After Sevilla’s derby match with Real Betis at the weekend, Dani Alves was quoted as saying by Onda Cero radio station:
“These have been five brilliant years with Sevilla and I knew that this moment would come. This is my destiny and I have to accept that is how things are. I hope to be able to say goodbye to the fans on a positive note.”
This all but implies that Dani Alves is already one foot out of Sevilla and his move to Barcelona will be completed as soon as Sevilla accept Barca’s transfer fee. Barcelona are set to undergo a massive renovation in the summer and next season’s first team coach Josep Guardiola wants more reinforcement to his side and the 25-year old Brazilian international is thought to play a key role for him next season.
