Sunderland prepare move for striker

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has admitted he has been given "the all clear" to make a move for a new striker. Sunderland have today been linked with a move for Peter Crouch.

Peter Crouch is looking increasingly likely to leave Tottenham this summer, and Sunderland have today been suggested as his preferred option.



Bruce said: "We know we need more firepower so we have one or two irons in the fire and we hope they will come to fruition. We are not that naive. Of course we are aware we need more firepower. We are close to one or two things and that will help us."
