Juan Mata hoping for Chelsea debut

27 August 2011 - 07:28

Chelsea's newest signing Juan Mata is hoping to be involved against Norwich City in the Blues' Premier League game this weekend. Mata completed a move from Valencia worth a reported 24m GBP.

  • Chelsea open to selling midfielder for £100m amid Real Madrid interest
  • Xabi Alonso to replace Arne Slot at Liverpool?
  • Mata is regarded by many to be one of the best young players in the world and is confident that he can adapt to the Premier League.

The Spaniard is hoping that he can take part against Norwich this weekend, as he feels physically ready to play.

"I am fit and ready if the coach says so, I was training in Valencia and have trained here, so it is up to the coach," he said.

"I know English football is a physical game, but I am sure I can adapt and get physically stronger if I need to. We have seen players like David Silva manage it, and I am similar to him so I am sure I will be fine here.

"There have been some Spanish players who have done very well in England, at the top teams, and I hope I can follow in their paths while I am with Chelsea."
