Erdinc turns down Newcastle

30 August 2011 - 12:48

Paris St Germain striker Mevlut Erdinc has been persuaded by the club to stay put, and has turned down a move to Newcastle ending months of speculation.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Newcastle boss Alan Pardew had hoped to bring Erdinc to the club but a fee was not agreed with the French side.

A Paris St Germain statement read: "Paris Saint-Germain is pleased to announce that striker Mevlut Erding will continue the season playing for PSG.

"Despite numerous requests from clubs wishing to engage the services of Mevlut, the club and the player decided to continue this adventure together.

"The club wishes to express its appreciation to keep a player of the quality of Mevlut."
