Atletico Madrid could revive their interest in signing Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres next year.
The Spanish giants explored the idea of landing Gyokeres this summer and they were open to signing him as a makeweight for Julian Alvarez.
However, Alvarez never considered a move to the Gunners. He was reluctant to return to the Premier League due to residency issues for his family.
As a result, a deal did not materialise, but Gyokeres continues to remain on Atletico's radar, given Alvarez could be on his way out next year.
The Argentine has decided to change his agency after his failure to join Barcelona, and he could push for the same move next summer.
If Alvarez were to depart for Barcelona, Diego Simeone's side have their sights set on pursuing a deal for Gyokeres, who is unsettled at Arsenal.
The Swede has played just 29 minutes in the Premier League this campaign, with manager Mikel Arteta preferring Kai Havertz to lead the line.
Gyokeres could make his first start of the league season against Leeds United on Saturday, considering Havertz is nursing a minor hamstring injury.
