Mikel Arteta completes Arsenal move

Mikel Arteta completed a dramatic 10m GBP move from Everton to Arsenal on transfer deadline day. The Spanish midfielder submitted a transfer request at 9:30pm on Wednesday to ensure his move to London could be completed.

  • One of the biggest shocks from the transfer window, Arteta has signed a contract with the Gunners for four years.



    The former Barcelona youth player has been brought in to replace Cesc Fabregas, who left the Gunners a fortnight ago.



    David Moyes said of the move: "Mikel indicated to me that he wished to join Arsenal if a bid came in.



    "I am very disappointed to lose him but the prospect of Champions League football was something I wasn't able to offer him."
