England not to blame for Wilshere injury

06 September 2011 - 00:34

Fabio Capello denies that England are to blame for Jack Wilshere's groin injury. Wilshere picked up the knock during England's June game with Switzerland.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The good news for Arsenal is that Wilshere is only ruled out for up to three months; that means he will be available for selection in the early stages of the Champions League.

"When I selected him, he was fit," said Capello.

"During a game, it can happen, it's normal. People get shoulder, knee, head injuries. Something can happen in a tackle. It happened. When he started the game he was fit. If he hadn't been, he wouldn't have played.

"It's true he suffered this accident against Switzerland. Afterwards he went on holiday. It's not my job to say what happened but I hope he will be fit in a really short time for Arsenal and for us because he is a really important player for both."
