Man City tracking Alessio Cerci

Man City tracking Alessio Cerci

10 September 2011 - 02:56

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has dropped his strongest hint yet that he will eventually sign Fiorentina star Alessio Cerci. It appears Man City's manager will make another offer for the Italian in the January transfer window.

  • Chelsea eyeing surprise move for former Arsenal striker
  • Chelsea & Man Utd want to sign Belgian winger
  • Fiorentina and Man City were unable to agree a fee for the midfielder after two months of negotiations and eventually a deal for the midfielder broke down.

But Mancini is still a huge fan of his fellow countryman and admitted a deal could still happen: "I have followed him since his days at Pisa in the 2007/08 season. He was just 20 but immediately did things that were extraordinary.

"He is one of the few players who are able to win a game on their own. If I could have I would have brought him to the Premier League a year ago.

"We have tried again this summer because I thought he might make an important contribution and mix well with the players here at City."
