Mancini eyes new Man City contract

17 October 2011 - 13:34

Roberto Mancini is hoping to agree a new deal that will keep him at Manchester City for the next five years. The Italian has only a year and a half left on his current deal.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • An impressive start to the season in the Premier League this year, as well as FA Cup success last season; has made Mancini immensely popular with City fans.

Despite Mancini being known for having a hard line approach with his players, it appears he has built a squad capable of challenging for domestic honours again this year.

The Italian hopes this early season form will be rewarded with a new deal: "After this year I have one more year and I don't have a problem with this.

"I haven't talked to the club, but at the moment it is not important.

"I would like to stay here for many years in the future, but it is not important, my contract."
