Everton leave it late to beat Fulham

23 October 2011 - 15:03

Everton piled the pressure on Fulham and Martin Jol, as the Toffees stormed to a 3-1 victory over the Cottagers today. Real Madrid loanee Royston Drenthe got the ball rolling with the first goal, before Bryan Ruiz equalised. Last minute goals from Jack Rodwell and Louis Saha secured the 3 points.

  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Before the game, all of the talk was of Everton's poor record on their visits to Craven Cottage, only securing one victory in the Premier League.

They will have to quickly improve or their Premier League status will be under serious threat.

Royston Drenthe rewarded David Moyes' confidence in him and scored in just the second minute. The Dutchman smashed the ball home past Mark Schwarzer after bringing down a Jack Rodwell pass. A superb finish.

Fulham's record signing Bryan Ruiz equalised after coming off of the bench, with an equally impressive goal after lobbing the ball over Tim Howard, shortly after coming off the bench.

The game appeared to be heading for a draw, but Jack Rodwell and Louis Saha secured the points.

Bobby Zamora will be made to regret missing a sitter in the 90th minute, after a smart finish from Louis Saha and an excellent volley from Jack Rodwell wrapped up the game.
