Nolan vows to get Bolton place

Nolan vows to get Bolton place

13 October 2007 - 08:52

Bolton midfielder Kevin Nolan has vowed to regain his starting place in the Reebok Stadium side. Nolan has spoken of his surprise of being dropped against Chelsea as Bolton are languishing in the lower echelons of the Premiership.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • However, the Bolton midfielder has vowed to do everything in his power to pull Bolton out of the relegation zone.

"I was as surprised as anyone to find out I was not in the team. It was a gut-wrenching blow," he told the Bolton Evening News.

"At first I didn't really know how to react, but I think I reacted in the right way by getting behind the club and behind the lads and, obviously, I was disappointed we didn't get the result.

"Obviously I respect the manager's decision. It's not about me, it's what is best for the club and, if what is best for the club is for me not to be in the team, then I'll hold my hands up.

"But as captain of Bolton Wanderers Football Club I have to set an example to the rest of the lads.

"It's been a bit of a mad week but I'm not going to sit and sulk. I've got my position to get back.

"This is my club and there's no way I want to be second bottom of the league and not be able to do anything about it."
