van Persie holds up on Arsenal new deal

28 October 2011 - 05:21

Despite reports that Robin van Persie's Arsenal contract discussions have sped up this week, eyefootball.com understands that the Dutchman will still wait until the summer to discuss a fresh deal.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • This year, van Persie has been Arsenal's leading light in a so far disappointing season, and an incredible four goals in his last two games has helped the Gunners return to form.

With just 18 months left on his current deal, the Gunners are desperate to tie their captain to a new deal.

However, van Persie's agent has advised his player to wait until next summer. Van Persie admitted last month that he would be focusing on his football, as opposed to his contract until the time is right to thrash out personal terms.
