Preview: Wigan vs Fulham

Preview: Wigan vs Fulham

29 October 2011 - 08:25

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez and Fulham's Martin Jol both find themselves in worrying positions in the Premier League, and both teams need 3 points in this game as they look to turn poor form around and escape the relegation mire.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Wigan are second bottom of the Premier League, starting the season with two draws and a win, since then everything has gone wrong. 1-0 defeat to Newcastle last weekend meant six consecutive defeats for Wigan, and Roberto Martinez found some positives from that game: "As a player you need to understand why you don't get a positive result when you deserve it, or you feel you are the better side.

"I felt the performance against Newcastle gave us a real burst of confidence because we played against a very confident side with a lot of good threats. We stopped that, we showed good concentration levels and we had a real threat and many good chances."

Home advantage against a struggling Fulham side could be the best opportunity for Wigan to change their poor early season form.

    FORM

Fulham have never won a Premier League game at the DW Stadium, whilst Wigan have only managed to win one point from all opposition below a mid table position this year.

    TEAMS

Franco Di Santo and James McCarthy are missing for Wigan, whilst for Fulham Philippe Senderos could miss out, and Aaron Hughes and Orlando Sa will be missing.

    PREDICTION:

    Wigan 1-2 Fulham

    FIRST GOALSCORER:

    Damien Duff
