Preview: Romania vs. Holland

Preview: Romania vs. Holland

13 October 2007 - 10:05

There's all to play for in Group G but Holland have to first make a tough trip to Romania. It's wide open and Bulgaria, who were well in the mix at the start of September, are rank outsiders in this group, while both Romania and Holland still sit comfortably in the top two spots.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • Many will argue a draw will be beneficial for both teams, and with the way Holland have played maybe this would suit them best on this tough trip to Eastern Europe.

Dutch coach Marco van Basten acknowledges that his side have not been too pretty in front of goal, but having attended the managers course entitled “saying the right things” he insists that no matter how his team plays, the most important thing is three points.

"Obviously our goal is to play attractive football and to get a good result, but in modern football it is all about three points," he told uefa.com. "Despite all the criticism in the media, those games still delivered six points."

During Holland's last match where they dominated in Albania, the home side were dangerous enough and with a bit more composure could have scored. van Nistelrooy was the man once again scoring a late winning goal, but the absence of Snejder, Van Persie and Van der Saar today may cause Holland a series of problems.
