Man Utd striker Wayne Rooney insists that sacking Andre Villas-Boas so early on into the season would only be a mistake. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has acquired a reputation for disposing of underperforming managers, but Rooney thinks Villas-Boas needs more time.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Recent results in the Premier League have been very disappointing for Chelsea, with defeats to title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool and unimpressive performances worrying many Chelsea fans.

However, Andre Villas-Boas has received surprise support from another Premier League rival, Man Utd, as England striker Wayne Rooney shared his take on Villas-Boas' current situation.

"There's a lot of people saying he should be sacked, that Chelsea should make another change," Rooney revealed to The Sun.

"There's no need to do that, I cannot see the point in that at all.

"This season that hasn't been the case but they've a new manager and a new way of playing which will take time to settle.

"For me the best option is to keep faith and keep your manager."
