Gregory van der Wiel will not be sold this January, despite the player admitting he is keen to make a move to Spanish side Valencia. Danny Blind, the technical director at Ajax, confirmed that the right back will be kept at the Amsterdam ArenA for the rest of the season.

  • Valencia have made several offers for the young Dutchman, but at this time none have been accepted by the Dutch side. It appears that Ajax want to keep the international full back until the end of the season.<br />

"Ajax has business as well as sporting considerations to take into account, but in the case of Gregory it is clear that in the winter he is not likely to go,'' Blind told the club's official website.<br />

"Coach Frank de Boer and his staff discuss will discuss this matter. We will talk to the player himself, or his agent, to find out what he wants.<br />

"Gregory is important to this team. If Valencia or any other club want to sign him in the summer then, of course, if the price is right then it will be considered.''
