Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp wants to complete a move for FC Twente goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov in January, as the club scour Europe for a long term replacement for American keeper Brad Freidel.
Freidel is expected to retire during the summer, but there has been talk of a one year extension to his contract should he stay fit throughout this season.
Alternatively, Spurs could now move for the Bulgarian international keeper Mihaylov instead. The 23 year old shot stopper is familiar with the Premier League, and enjoyed a spell with Liverpool back in 2007 until 2010, with the keeper backup for Pepe Reina.
Twente are reportedly looking for around 7.5m GBP for the transfer of Mihaylov.
