Redknapp admits England job appeals

Redknapp admits England job appeals

03 January 2012 - 18:09

Harry Redknapp has admitted that it would be hard to turn down the England job should it be offered to him, but the Tottenham manager worries that he may even find the role boring.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Fabio Capello, the current England manager, will step down after the Euro 2012 tournament and there seems to be some suggestion that the FA will turn to an Englishman as a replacement.

However, the former Portsmouth coach admits that he would find the role quite boring as he likes the day to day club duties at Spurs.

"I enjoy the day-to-day coming in to work with players, going out on the training pitch every day, seeing the players," Redknapp said.

"I don't know if seeing players once every six or seven weeks ... it would be different for me and I would find it very difficult.

"I would be very bored, I imagine. I've always said it's the pinnacle for any Englishman to manage their country. When Fabio Capello finishes, I would like to see them give it to an Englishman.

"If it came along, it would be difficult to turn it down for any Englishman."
