Man City manager left fuming over Kompany ban

11 January 2012 - 07:07

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is very disappointed with the FA's decision to reject an appeal for Vincent Kompany's red card against Manchester United in the FA Cup to be overturned.

  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?
  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?

  • Kompany will now be missing for four games for the Citizens, a huge blow for their title chances this year.

Despite the red card punishment normally guranteeing a three game suspension, the FA added an extra game as Kompany has already received a red card last October.

“I was confident about the appeal for Vinnie because he took the ball – he did nothing," Mancini said of his failed appeal.

“In 30 years, I have never seen a sending off for a tackle like this. I can’t understand it. For me, he won the ball fair and square, no? If it was a dangerous tackle, Nani, who was there, would have said something.”
