Chelsea admit Alex offer received

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas admitted this morning that a transfer offer has been made for Brazilian defender Alex. The defender slapped in a transfer request last month and is expected to quit Stamford Bridge before the end of the transfer window.

Chelsea are reportedly looking for around 6.5m GBP to release the Brazilian centre back, and Andre Villas-Boas has already identified a ready made replacement in Gary Cahill, who will join later in the month from Bolton.<br />

Alex has been a consistent regular for Chelsea since arriving from PSV Eindhoven, but has struggled to force his way into the first team since Portuguese manager Andre Villas-Boas took charge at the beginning of last summer.
