Liverpool forward Carroll eyes Anfield stay

30 January 2012 - 04:58

Under fire Liverpool striker Andy Carroll wants to stay at Anfield, despite reports that his club have offered his services to both Manchester City and Newcastle. There were reports that Carroll had been offered in exchange for Carlos Tevez and Demba Ba.

  • Arsenal & Chelsea battling to sign Ajax defender

  • The out of sorts striker was signed from Newcastle for 35 million GBP over a year ago, and has failed to reproduce the form that made him an England prospect and a suitable replacement for Fernando Torres.

Despite the poor form, Carroll wants to stay at Liverpool for the time being. The striker said: "The club has been great with me and everyone outside the club has been fantastic and I am enjoying it down here. Everyone has backed me and helped us along the way. I have signed a contract here and this is the team I am playing for.

"I thought I had did well and everyone else did but I've got to keep working on it and it will come.

"I am just getting into my stride now. Everyone is getting used to how I play and I am getting used to everyone else. Everyone is helping us as much as they can and I just need to get going."
