FA chairman David Bernstein has refused to rule out making a move for a foreign manager, as they look to find a quick replacement for Fabio Capello who stepped down earlier in the week.
Bernstein could make a move for a foreign coach, seemingly putting former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink in the running.
"No, he will not definitely be English. Clearly there's a preference for an Englishman. The position hasn't changed. There's a preference for an English person or a British person but in the end we want the best person," said Bernstein.
"So I'm not prepared to rule out anything at this stage."
