Ajax coach Frank De Boer thinks that Belgium international defender Jan Vertonghen is ready to make the step up to Premier League football. Manchester United are believed to be in pole position to complete the signing of Vertonghen.
Tottenham scouts were monitoring the player in action against Man United during midweek in the Europa League, whilst United are also believed to be ready to open talks with Ajax for the talented defender.<br />
"Jan is already close to the level of Manchester United and he can still improve," said De Boer.<br />
"Especially as he moves forward through the midfield, he is so dangerous. He sometimes does that too little in my eyes. That's a shame, because then his qualities are more conspicuous."
