Arsene Wenger explains Podolski signing

11 March 2012 - 13:02

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has explained the reasons why his club will complete a move for FC Koln striker Lukas Podolski in the summer. The Germany international will complete a 15m GBP move from the Bundesliga to the Gunners.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Arsene Wenger has been pursuing the German forward for over two months, and yesterday the BBC revealed that a deal has already been completed.

Arsene Wenger explained the reasons why he is so happy to secure a move for the striker: “He can play for us because he can play central, right and left.

"He has 95 caps for Germany and is 26 years old, which is the best age."

Podolski reportedly handed in a transfer request last month due to a perceived lack of ambition by the Cologne side, and has been in contact with Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker in recent weeks.
