Arsene Wenger eyes 3rd place finish

Arsene Wenger eyes 3rd place finish

11 March 2012 - 13:08

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hoping that a recent good run of form will continue, and that the Gunners can pip bitter rivals Tottenham to 3rd place in the Premier League. The Gunners take on Newcastle in the Premier League on Monday night.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Recent victories over AC Milan, Liverpool and Tottenham have done much to instill confidence throughout the Arsenal camp, and Wenger is hoping to continue with the club's good form up until the end of the season.

"I am scared to answer questions about what we have and what we can achieve - but finishing with a place in Europe this season, after what we have been through, would be right up there," said Wenger.

"I am ready to fight and fight we will. It has not been easy for us but I always believed. The team believed.

"We knew there was something here and I am proud we have managed to show we are still a force. We want Champions League football next season. At the worst I want third place. At the moment third place is still in Tottenham's hands but it is down to consistency. We have difficult games, they have difficult games.

"We have to make sure the fourth place is attainable first. Then maybe higher, a lot higher. Who knows?"
