Pique confident Barcelona still in title race

26 March 2012 - 06:23

Match winning defender Gerard Pique thinks that Barcelona can still catch Real Madrid at the top of La Liga. Pique scored the 2nd goal in a 2-0 win over Real Mallorca on Sunday evening.

  • Barcelona had to win the game with 10 men though, as Thiago Alcantara was sent off in the 56th minute. But goals from Lionel Messi and former Man Utd defender Pique wrapped up the points.

Pique said: "It was very hard to win, especially with 10 men. The three points are very important and we deserved them. We tried to control the match; they wanted to equalise, but we played well with 10 players.

"The most important thing is that our title hopes are still alive. What really matters is winning and we've managed to earn a great victory."
