Liverpool desperate for Pep Guardiola

Liverpool desperate for Pep Guardiola

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have made yet another approach for former Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola, as the American owners scour Europe to find the best possible replacement for Kenny Dalglish.

  • Eyefootball understands that John W Henry has already spoken with Wigan manager Roberto Martinez, but is not yet convinced the Latics' boss is the right man to take over at Anfield. In addition, Henry has been in regular contact with Guardiola's agents to see if he can persuade the former Barca man to make an immediate return to football.

Guardiola stepped down as manager at the Nou Camp last week, helping the Catalan side to 14 major trophies. The former Brescia and Roma midfielder has told press that he wants to take an extended break from football, but that has not stopped the Anfield side from making an approach.

Guardiola's brother Pere is the agent of Reds' frontman Luis Suarez, and Liverpool have apparently attempted to make contact with Pep through his brother.
