Blackburn defender Christopher Samba has signed a new contract at the club. The new five-year deal underlines Mark Hughes' respect and trust for the former Hertha Berlin defender.

  • Manager Mark Hughes said: "We are delighted to have secured Chris's services for the long term."



    Samba, 23, joined the club in January for £400,000 and chairman John Williams said: "Chris has done exceptionally well and the new contract is thoroughly deserved.



    "It is also good business for the club in securing the services of a very talented player."



    Samba, who has opted to play for Congo despite being born in France, said: "I am happy to extend my time at the club and want to keep performing."
