Arsenal's hopeful plan to snare Spain international David Villa on a short term loan deal appear to have failed, as Barcelona club president Sandro Rosell insisted that the forward will stay at the club.
Villa has fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp, with Lionel Messi, Pedro and Alexis Sanchez all ahead of him for a starting berth.
However, there are no plans to let the player leave just yet.
"I completely rule out the transfer of Villa during the winter market,” the Barcelona club president said.
"He is ours and we need him, there is a lot of the season left."
