Chelsea man Torres in transfer window exit rumour

Chelsea man Torres in transfer window exit rumour

13 January 2013 - 09:04

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres may be a casualty of the January transfer window, as a rumour from Spain indicates that his former club Atletico Madrid would like to take the Spain international on loan until the end of the season.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Torres has struggled to adapt to life at the London club, despite winning the Champions League last year with the Blues. He joined Chelsea from Liverpool in a £50 million deal but has been unable to repeat the goalscoring exploits that made him an Anfield hero.

His former club Atletico Madrid haven't the money to spend on Torres and make him permanently their own, and so have already contacted Chelsea about a potential loan move until the end of the season.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are known admirers of Atleti's star striker Radamel Falcao. The Colombian striker is one of the best forwards in Europe at this time, but the Spanish club have no plans to sell yet. An offer of Fernando Torres plus cash could persuade the Spaniard's into a quick sale though.

There are also rumours that Chelsea will let some of their fringe players leave in the January transfer window. One player who, according to a rumour from Italy, would like to leave the Blues is defender Paulo Ferreira. Juventus have been in contact regarding a loan move for the Portuguese full back, and are expected to wrap up a deal before January the 31st.
