Arsenal star Podolski laughs off rumours

25 January 2013 - 07:21

Arsenal star Lukas Podolski has laughed off reports that he has demanded to be playing a central role upfront for the Gunners. There had been some talk that the German international was unhappy with Arsene Wenger's decision to play him on the wide left.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • In recent weeks, Arsenal have been forced to play Theo Walcott as a striker whilst his contract talks were ongoing.

Now, there has been surprise talk of a need for Arsenal to move Podolski into a central role.

"I think I can shoot more and get more goals when I play No. 10 or as a striker, but with the style of the game at Arsenal I do it well on the left side and I am happy to play there," Podolski told the Arsenal website.

"I've scored seven goals now and have nine assists. It's an okay start for me. I have played on the left for Koln sometimes and the national team, so this is not something special.

"What is more important is that we are in the Champions League at the end of the season. There is still enough time for us to get back into the top four."
