AVB confident Bale wills tay at Tottenham

11 May 2013 - 05:54

Andre Villas-Boas has been given no reason to suggest that star forward Gareth Bale wants to quit the club at the end of the year. In fact, AVB called on the Tottenham board to offer the Welsh wizard a new contract.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The former Southampton player won the Player of the Year award this year and an impressive season has seen the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid express some interest in his services.

Spurs' manager said: "It would be good for him (to sign a new contract), and I think he deserves it for the season he's had. Obviously we could put to bed every single speculation that's coming out, but it would be excellent and I think a reward for what he has achieved this season.

"Am I confident he will stay? Yes. I have those guarantees. You can always make your own understanding from what the player says and how he feels.

"Gareth is very, very driven to be successful but you can see that he is enjoying his football and all of the indications that I have are that he will continue."
