Spanish boss Rafa Benitez met with representatives of Napoli in London yesterday evening, as the ambitious Serie A side lined up the former Chelsea, Inter and Liverpool manager as a successor for the departing Walter Mazzarri.
Mazzarri decided to call time on his managerial career at Napoli earlier in the week, to the surprise of many in Italy.
Walter Mazzarri had enjoyed relative success since taking charge at the Italian side, but decided that the time was right to quit. Benitez is a natural successor for the club who are desperate to swap their domestic success for European success.
