Everton confirm Martinez as new manager

05 June 2013 - 13:17

Everton have confirmed that Roberto Martinez has been named as new manager. Martinez's former club Wigan had agreed compensation terms with the Toffees, and the Spaniard has been locked in talks with the club since yesterday.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip

  • Martinez is set to sign a four year contract at Goodison Park, and it is understood that much of the discussions with the club included their willingness to offer a large budget to Martinez for the acquisition of new players.

Martinez has also requested clarification about the long term future of the likes of Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini, both of whom have been linked with a move to Manchester United.
