Franco Baldini to join Tottenham as director

Roma have confirmed that Franco Baldini has been released from his contract. Fabio Capello's former number 2 will reportedly move to Tottenham this summer where he will become their new sporting director.

Baldini will be partially responsible for duties such as player acquisition, and will be reportedly offered a 3 year contract at White Hart Lane.<br />

His departure was confirmed by Roma: "We appreciate Franco's contribution to the club. AS Roma's top priority continues to be success on the field.<br />

"We are very confident in our future and look forward to building on the excellent talent base that we have assembled under the last two years. Walter Sabatini and I will work closely with president Pallotta as we finalise our coaching staff and player roster for this season."
