Everton Looks To Making Baines The Highest Paid

14 June 2013 - 06:59

If someone from Everton has been a real attention grabber in the Transfer market, it would be Leighton Baines. Everton plans to give its left back a 50 percent hike in his weekly wage that would step up his presently 44k pounds/week to 65k pounds/week, in order to stand in contention against David Moyes.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • Man Utd. have already shown utmost interest in the English footballer after their doubts with Patrice Evra's future with the club. Baines, 27, has for long been considered as one of the best left-back in the Premier League, considering his aggresive and invigorating presence on the pitch. Baines is no stranger to David Moyes, who was also his former boss in Everton.

Roberto Martinez, the newly appointed boss at Everton says,  "It's very important and it's a case of rewarding players, who have been phenomenal for the football club. I think Leighton is in that category. For Leighton, as the top performer he has been in the last few years, it is important that we reward his work and make sure that he can look forward to kicking on to the next chapter of his career with Everton."

Everton's attempt to lure Baines into staying at the club and not leaving for Old Trafford, though provoking, may not suffice to fend off Moyes' pursuit of the footballer, bearing in mind all the resources he has got his hands on.
